I looooved this book! <3(Review may contain SPOILER)It's a cute, suspenseful story full of passion and love!Emi is a great character and her emotions and thoughts are described beautifully, you can really feel the passion and love for her work. You almost want to be a set designer yourself, if you're an artistic person! Emi's artistic and imaginative view on the world around her is catching, simply fantastic.There is a lot of suspense in both the mysthery that's to be solved and the love story. Emi's and Charlotte's mysthery alone is very interesting and thrilling, and together with the slowly developing romance between Emi and Ava it forms an amazing story.The relationship developes in a way that is believable and still doesn't lose any of its magic and sweetness.The ending is wonderful, cute, full of hope and love and even if not everything works out as wished, it doesn't lose any of its happiness.
Eigentlich hab ich zu 'Everything Leads to You' nicht viel zu sagen. Es war eine locke leichte Lektüre und niedliche Geschichte - dabei soll niedlich nicht abwertend klingen.Zudem hatte es auch etwas, dass ich in den letzten Jahren mehr und mehr zu schätzen gelernt habe, nämlich 'diversity' also Vielfalt was die Figuren angeht und nicht jeder in die 'weiß, hübsch und heterosexuell'-Kategorie passt. So ist unsere Hauptfigur Emi lesbisch/bisexual und zudem biracial. Und ich mochte auch, wie damit umgegangen wurde und verschiedene Perspektiven aufgezeigt wurden. So hatte Emi selbst nie ein Problem mit ihrer Sexualität, denn ihre Familie und Freunde sind sehr aufgeschlossene Menschen und auch in ihrer Branche, nämlich die Filmproduktion, ist das kein großes Problem, bzw. es geht eigentlich niemanden was an und sie wird nicht von ihrer Sexualität sondern von ihrem Talent definiert. Dahingegen sieht die Geschichte von Ava, die etwas später im Buch dazu kommt, etwas anders aus. So ist Ava ziemlich verschlossen über ihre Sexualität, denn sie hat mit ihrer ersten Liebe, ihrer Familie und allgemein mit den Menschen in ihrem Ort, schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht.Nina Lacour hat offensichtlich versucht, den LGBTQA Aspekt einzubauen, ohne ihre Figuren davon definieren und befremden zu lassen, wobei es natürlich dennoch eine ziemlich große Rolle gespielt hat.Eine andere Sache die mir sehr gefallen hat, war der Film-Aspekt. Emi, unsere Hauptfigur, möchte irgendwann einmal Setdesignering werden und zu Anfang des Buches ist sie Praktikantin, die ihr erstes 'Zimmer' herrichten darf. Ihr Bruder ist dabei die Person, die die Drehorte ausfindig macht - wie auch immer man das nennt.Die Liebe zum Film kommt hierbei von ihrem Vater, der Professor ist und sich mit Popculture, also Film und Fernsehen beschäftigt. Die Mutter allerdings ist Professor für black culture und gender studies, was wie ich finde, eigentlich für ein ziemlich belebtes und liebenswürdiges Elternpaar gesorgt hat.Dazu kommt dann noch der eigentliche Plot des Buches, indem Emi und ihre beste Freundin Charlotte durch Zufall einen Brief der verstorbenen Filmlegende Clyde Jones in die Hände bekommen und damit die Suche nach der Person beginnt, die eigentlich Empfängerin des Briefes hätte sein sollen. Ich mochte diese Idee wirklich sehr und es hat mir gefallen, wie es sich letztendlich abgespielt hat.Alles in allem würde ich dieses Buch für zwischendurch empfehlen. Ich finde es war leicht in dem Sinne, dass obwohl es Drama gab, es eigentlich nicht zu überspitzt war und sich schnell wieder gelegt hat. Die Charaktere waren mir sehr sympathisch und ich mochte, dass sie mal ein klein wenig anders waren als das übliche Klischee. Ich finde, die ganze Film-Sache war unterhaltsam und obwohl es zwischendurch ein klein wenig langatmig wurde, war es dann doch ziemlich schnell gelesen. So waren auch manche Stellen und Konversationen ziemlich langweilig und unnötig, aber im Ganzen war es ein ordentliches Buch.
